The 2009 Edition of the Governor's Cup came to an end yesterday... nine rounds of G40 chess with several side events to keep everyone engaged in the most stimulating and healthy mind game ever! Pieces with differing values, that is to say different moves, is a lot more engaging than let us say throwing black and white pebbles onto a wooden pond. There are many stimulating mind games out there but Chess is a classic... with a very long lineage that has spawned numerous variants from the first incarnation of origin. Chess is one of the top two or three mind games in the world and in my opinion it is the top game. Of course I am a Chess Addict so I am biased!

This year's edition of this fine event saw 422 youngsters compete for top honors as individuals and teams in 4 different categories: Kindergartner (34 players), K-3 (201 players), K-6 (150 youngsters) and in the Open (37 competitors). I look forward to sending my teams and lone wolf players to future editions of this fine event. -Coach Sean.
