1.g4 + Kh4 2.Bh6! THE KEY MOVE! ...Qxh6 3.Qh2+ Kg5 4.Qd2+ Nf4 (Otherwise the White Queen wins the Black Queen via the Skewer set up against the Black King.)5.Qd8 + +
Now for the Attack of the Penquins Chess Puzzle! 1.Kf6 Bg8 (1.Kf6 hxg3 2.fxg5+ + etc.,) 2.f5xg6 g5xf4 3.g5 + Kh5 4.g4 + + All roads lead to checkmate in this one! A nice problem to showcase the fields of force and pawn power in chess!
I have been playing chess since 1993. Just after the return of "dark" Fischer.
What do I love most about this game? I love the competitive outlet that it provides, I love the History of the game, I love the classic games played by the all time greatest players, I love the Opening Theory, I love the chess endgame problems and I love Bughouse which is variant of chess! Based upon some fairly recent research I also love the fact that Chess can also help delay the onset of Alzheimers and other Brain wasting diseases. Use it or lose it!!
Chess is a lot of fun, mentally stimulating, an inexpensive hobby and as healthy as any activity that engages the mind can be.
Ok Problem one is a classic one...
